[Opinions] Re: Gabriella....
Hi Amber, here are my $.02 on the subject.First of all, Gabriella Christine is lovely. It's timeless. It has it all over Makenzie (or the other names you mentioned). I have a special dislike of Makenzie. Not only is it incredibly trendy and is the poster child of the surname-as-first name trend, it means "son of Kenneth." When I had my last daughter, my husband picked out Anna Mackenzie. He was just in love with that name. I wanted to name her Caroline, however, no one but me liked it. I knew that the Mac/Mc prefix meant "son of," but our baby name book (Lansky) said Mackenzie meant "child of the wise leader." I thought I could live with it and it did make my husband happy. It wasn't until I made a friend online from Scotland that I learned what Mackenzie really means. Even my husband was swayed and we ended up changing her name to Anna Caroline when she was two years old. The point I'm making is to make sure you love your child's name and not to let yourself be influenced by what everyone else thinks. That's the mistake I made. In my heart, my daughter is still Caroline. I mean, I'm happy to have finally included Caroline in her name, but I still have regrets. Can you live with Gabriella and not have regrets? Would your husband be willing to let you choose a name you truly love with your next child?Oh, and one more thing: I wouldn't be concerned with ethnicities. My name is Elena. I am not Spanish, Italian, Russian, Greek, etc., I'm mainly English, Native American and Dutch, however, my name suits me perfectly. If I were you, I'd focus on a name that I love. BTW, I like the nn Gabby. I know many don't, but I think it's sweet.Hope this helps.

"all books now say daughter of a wise leader"
They are wrong, sorry. Mac cannot be daughter, even if you use it on a girl... And the wise leader stuff is made up to attract the parents.

Agree.I have a plaque in my room that gives the defination of Eve for Haven. This is especially absurd to me since haven is an English word in common English. I would laugh at anyone who believed it.
