As you probably guessed, I find the Marishka spelling really dumb. I, of course, understand that it makes pronounciation easier, but then, name your daughter Sarah, and everyone will know how to say it. If you choose a name from a different culture, at least spell it corectly.Mariska (spelled correctly) is not that dear to me, either. In Hungary, it would be considered either childinsh (the -ka, -ke endings are diminutive suffixes) or hillbilly. Mária was the top girls name for decades, and thus is really common.
Not to mention that Riska is *the* Hungarian cow name :-)

You would know Narinoc. Do you know of any names for boys or girls that are considered ridiculous in Romania? I know that Ion,Mihai ,Nicolae,and Maria are some of the top names there.

Romanian namesSadly enough, I don't know a thing about Romanian names apart from the names of some politicians from the news - and I don't think that's significant... :-(
