Help[Facts] Cunrod/Conrad & Cornelius
Looking for any info anyone may have on the name Cunrod or Conrad. My ggggg grandfather was Cunrod/Conrad Grider. I have been told that the Anglican 'Cornelius' is the German form of Cunrod/Conrad. Can anyone substantiate this or provide any info or further insight into these first names. I am researching my family history and putting together an eventual book, so any info will be greatly appreciated.

I seriously doubt there's any connection between "Conrad" and Cornelius".
Cornelius is an ancient Roman name that may derive from word-elements of "horn" (corne-) or "sun" (-elius < helios). Thus sayeth our webmaster.
Conrad is simply an Anglicized spelling of the Old German name Konrad, which means "bold counsellor" ("kuehner Ratgeber", in German).
