None, personally, although I do adore the name. Elise McKenna was a character in the movie "Somewhere in Time," and I fell in love with the name after seeing the movie. In fact, I originally wanted to name DD McKenna Elise, since DH liked MacKenzie & I wasn't so fond of it. The only nn I can think of (besides Mickey or Kenna) is Micka.

I know 2 girls named Mckenna (one spelled Makenna though). One goes by Kenna and the other the nn Mack or Macky

I don't know any McKennas although I know a pregnant girl who will be using it in September. I do, however, know a Mackenzie who is three and is called "Mac". I find that horrendously ugly. Mac is a man's name-ugh.

I know one, only spelled Makenna. And I don't know if she has a nickname or not. She should be around 2 now, I only met her and her parents once.

I know a little girl named McKenna who is not called Kenna (sometimes "Mac" though) and also a little girl named just Kenna. I don't like either, personally.

Just one. She's about 13, and she usually goes by Kenna.

None. And I would assume a girl with that name would have the nn Kenna.

I can't honestly say I know any McKennas.

I would automatically think of Mickey...either way, I don't like the name or any nns for it, but of course it's your choice :)

You could call her Mac, Mackie, or Mickie instead (or go with no nickname). I've heard of little girls named Makenna with the nickname Mak instead of Kenna. Makenna is a beautiful name imo, but I'm afraid that it's too trendy and that it will be eventually labeled as "dated". If this doesn't bother you, then go for it. I've run into two little girls named McKenna (not sure on the spellings) this summer. I personally don't know of any others, but I don't know that many young children. It seems like McKenna, Makenna, etc. has gotten on the popular side.

I know, personally none, but I find it to be a very trendy, and over used name. Plus, McKenna means "son of", which leaves me to wonder why it is so popular on girls

I quite like McKenna but most people on this board won't (not that this is a bad thing, just the way these people tend to be). IRL, I only know of 2 one spelled Makenna (which I hate) and the other spelled McKenna (which I love) and both are called by their formal names most of the time & if their ever called by a nn its Mack. Overall, its a nice name if its spelled the traditional surname way of either McKenna or Mackenna (which is not as common) and while its trendier because of the surname as a first name thing its definately not overly popular. Just don't make it too trendy & silly by trying to ignore the root of the name by going with an unsual spelling.

I know a Makenna, but she's only a baby so no nicknames yet!

I don't know anyone with the name Mckenna, but I see it all of the time in local birth announcements and on this message board. I think the nickname(s) should be left up to the child, so if she wanted to be called Kenna, then so be it. It's what she'd be called - you should have no say it that, since you chose the formal name.
