[Opinions] Madeline?
WDYT of the name Madeline and/or Madeleine. Either way, we'd be saying it mad-uh-lynn/lenn. I really really really dislike the spelling Madelyn though. I do like the pronounciation mad-uh-line for Madeline as well, but my husband doesn't. Which of the following middle names do you prefer?Madeline Genevieve
Madeline Josephine
Madeline Emilia
Madeline Ava
Madeline Brie

Madeline Ava seems the most balanced to me. The others seem either far too long or (in Brie's case) just a bit too topheavy. Of course, my friend is a Madeline Ann, so I'm very biased. ;)Array

I like Madeleine Genevieve bestI prefer the French spelling Madeleine (Ma-deh-lenn). Madeline (Mad-uh-linn) is pretty too. But I don't like Madeline rhyming with Caroline.

I don't know for sure whether people are more like to say "lyn" or "line" for Madeline, but I'd personally say "line". For the "lyn" or "len" pronunciation I do only like Madelyn, but "len" is the normal pron. for Madeleine so I'd use that one :-)Madeleine needs a shorter middle name than Genevieve, Josephine and Emilia (as much as I love Emilia ... Actually Emilia Madeleine would flow OK). Ava and Brie flow better but are too popular and currently trendy._____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that

I like Madeline Ava (with the Mad-uh-lynn pronunciation, but the Madeline-speling). Madeline Emilia's also good.~Lully Lulla~

I agree with Jacks and Shana about the pronounciation, not in a bad way but I would definitly go for Madeleine (mah-duh-len/lyn) or Madeline (mah-duh-line).They just 'fit' better with their spellings that way :)Madeleine Genevieve is absolutely beautiful, I really love it
Madeleine Josephine is also very pretty but doesn't flow as well
Madeleine Emilia I find difficult to say for some reason
Madeleine Ava would be cute but I think Madeleine needs a more classic or unusual name as Ava is so trendy right now
Madeleine Brie - Brie isn't really a name to me, my initial impression would be that the parents were trying to be FrenchAlice :)My favourite names are Isaac Atticus, Miller Gabriel, Lily Annabel and Freya Clara

I really like them all. Madeline Emilia is my favorite. The only one that I don't think flows very well is Madeline Ava, but it's still nice.

I've really started to love the name Josephine as a mn. It goes great with Madeline!

I pronounce Madeline as Mad-eh-lyn. I used to like the name (it used to be on my "Other Names I Like For Girls" list), but now I find it ugly and unflattering. Sorry. I, too, dislike the spelling Madelyn, as I find it trendy, with the -lyn ending. Sorry, but I don't care for your middle name choices, but if I had to choose a combo, it'd be Madeline Brie.Edit: Spelling.

Well personally I love the combo Madelyn Rose, but you don't like that spelling, but what about Madeline Rose? (just a suggestion, it's one of my personal faves)Madeline Genevieve - It's nice, classy and sophisticated sounding
Madeline Josephine - I don't care for Josephine very much
Madeline Emilia - This sounds very pretty
Madeline Ava - This is nice
Madeline Brie - I like this tooI like my favorite would have to be Madeline Emilia, but the others (with the exception of josephine) I think are very nice too.

I like Madeline pronounced with the LINE, but Madeleine pronounced with the LYN is not bad. Personally, I'd use the Madelaine or Madeleine spelling if you wanted that pronounciation & you didn't like the Madelyn spelling.

I agree...(m)I agree about the spelling. Since you don't like Madelyn, but want it pronounced mad-uh-lynn/lenn, I'd stay clear of the Madeline spelling, as it may commonly be mispronounced as mad-uh-line

Well... I wasn't really asking about the pronounciation part. Just telling you how we'd say it. I know 3 little Madeline's and all three of them say their name with the -lynn ending. So... around here it's not a problem. My mom was actually going to name my sister Victoria, Madeline for a while, said as Madelyn. Guess it all jsut depends on where you're at. Thanks for bringing it up though, it could be a problem somewhere else! And really, I like the mad-uh-line pro. so if they called her that, I'd just correct them. No big deal.
