My sister is Tara and we've always pronounced it Tah-rah. To all those who think it's nickname proof: Lots of people (myself included) often just call her Ta.I love the name, it's short, sweet, feminine and very Irish. Also my mother was a big fan of GWTW and of course the name of the plantation in the book is Tara.

I think it's nice enough, and I say it TAHR-uh. BUT-and this is a big but-it means 'vagina' in Maori. So I would never, ever use it.

I pronounce it ta-ra with a short "a" like in "cat". I like the name :-)_____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that

I don't mind the name, it's not a fave, but it's nice for someone else's child. I pronounce it tah-rah.

I pronounce it both ways, since I knew people who pronouced it both ways.I hate it. It's so trendy sounding and sugar-coated. Ugh.

I don't care for it, as it sounds choppy and harsh to me. I pronounce it as Tair-ah.
