[Opinions] Astor...
I didn't know this was a name! All this time I've been pushing for Aster for a boy. I like this. It means "hawk".
WDYT?

I prefer Astor over Aster. It looks more masculine to me too. The meaning of "hawk" is ok too. Though now I suddenly have the image of a hawk swooping around looking for prey.

I know a girls called Aestrid, and the reaction by many people is to shorten it to Aes, as in As*. Not good, imo, and Astor would get the same thing, I'm afraid. Would work better as a middle name if you really like the sound.
Astor Piazolla is an argentinian composer, i love it!
I'd be afraid of the first syllable as a nickname. Not my style, sorry.

I think the spelling Aster looks better, actually. I'd avoid any name beginning with the sound "ass", but in theory this is quite nice.

It's not Ass-tor, it's As-tor. I didn't say I was going to use it anyway.
