[Opinions] Giovanna
I never really liked the look of this name, but when I looked it up on BTN, I saw it was pn jo-VAHN-nah, and really like it. I am still turned off by the spelling of it though. Are there any variations that would get the same pn.

jo-VAH-nah is the correct pronunciation; it's not really gee-oh-vah-nah because in Italian the "i" is there to keep the soft G (J) sound for the vowel that comes after it: Gianna, Giampaolo, etc. Giovanna is my cousin's name and we call her Gianna for short. I love it but wouldn't use it since it's already taken in my family by someone living.

I like the other pronunciation. I had a Giovanna Vasarely alias once when a telemarketer called(*ahem*..one of my many chances to try fake names. I do it at restaurants too). I like the name either way though. It's pretty.-Seda*

I used to know a girl named Giovanna, and she pronounced her name as Gee-oh-vahn-ah. I know this site has it as jo-VAHN-nah, but I prefer the other pronunciation only. With that pronunciation, I think it's a very pretty name.
