I'm sorry but I can't think of those names without thinking of witch characters. I'm not like Avalon or Midori. I guess Belle Ruth would depend on the last name.

You know, I'd forgotten all about the name Matilda. I like it quite a bit. The same goes for Sabrina (I think of Audrey Hepburn rather than the teenage witch, however).Avalon is very pretty and I do think it's usable. I actually used to live near a British couple who had two little girls, one named Avalon, the other named Tamarin (not sure on the spelling, pronounced TAM-a-rin). Midori, however, reminds me of melon-flavored liquor.Belle Ruth is okay, but a little choppy, as you said.

Matilda is cute, but someone ruined Sabrina for me a few years ago. I can only picture a smarty alecI like Avalon and love Midori. I never consider whether a name is usable or not. I just know that from my list Adonis is not usable and all others are fair game. I'd use Midori myself. I just really like it.Belle Ruth is a bit choppy. Could Belle be short for something instead? Or use Bella Ruth? Btw, Kelly's set on Amira Bella now. :S-Seda*

I love both Matilda and Sabrina, I think they are great names and I think they'd work really nicely as sibs. I don't like Avalon and Midori at all, horrible! I love the name Belle and I also love Ruth, but I do think they sound too choppy together, sorry.

I always go in and out of liking the name Matilda and today I don't like it. Sabrina is ok but I like Sabina more. I know this thing says Sabina is an Italian and spanish name but I have seen this defintion for it before: Sabina, from the celtic word for goodness. Avalon I think the name sounds good but for some reason it makes me think of two things that could be either a good or bad thing depending on who you are. It makes me think of the name Algernon like the book flowers for algernon and it also makes me think of the word salon which me thinks of hair salon. Midori I have always liked because I love Japan and everthing green! And Belle Ruth doesn't sound very good to me at all, it feels like it isn't finished. Like when your listening to song you've never heard before that is boring but it feels like it is going to get more interesting but it never does and at the end of the sound you feel empty and disappointed. You feel like saying is that it? I'm not rying to be harsh but I'm sleepy and that is what it reminds me of. You asked is it a bit choppy I would say so, because it just stops too abruptly. Also I've never cared for the name Ruth, it reminds me of roofs and the name Ralph. And I can't stand the name Ralph because it makes me think of people barfing, it's kind of like an onimonipia - I know I must be spelling onimonipia wrong but merriam-webster online isn't helping me, though I know it is suppose to be spelt like it is said.---------------------------------------------------------------------

I love Matilda and have no witch or movie connotation. Though Matilda by Roald Dahl is good for me. I love the meaning of it.
Sabrina is a teenage witch to me. I don't really like the name.
Avalon - a place, a least a place in a novel. Possibly usable butI so would not.
Midori - a Japanese vocabulary word, like watashinohonwa midoridesu. (my book is green). Otherwise it's a green coloured premixed alcoholic drink. So I don't think it's usable.
Belle Ruth is a bit choppy, stop start combo.

Hmmm well that's strange, I have met Japanese woman named Midori, though not many because I don't see many woman from Japan. And I've seen Midori mentioned as a name before on many Japanese name sites. Though I think the Japanese must sometimes use vocabulary words sometimes just like some english speaking people do and I'm certain other people who don't speak english probably do also. I've met a man from Japan named Kajii which if you're house is on fire you would say Kajii, Kajii. So I would say that it's ok to use Midori as name. Though one japanese name I love alot is Tomoko, I had a pen pel from japan named Tomoko, and partially because of her and the show sailor moon I fell in love with japan. I even use to wish to be Japanese when I was 6 years old and for a couple years after that. But anyway when I just thought of Sailor Moon I remembered the name Serena which is close to Sabrina.---------------------------------------------------------------------

Midori DOES mean "green" in Japanese. It IS used as a girl name in Japan. It's like the way Ruby is used as an English girl name, itself being a gemstone. Although I like Sabrina (Matilda is okay but I wouldn't name my daughter that), I think Serena is beautiful.

Hmmm well I mainly meant that I thought it strange that someone would say that since it is a vocabulray word they wouldn't use it as a name.---------------------------------------------------------------------

I totally agree with you, and I should have posted my comment to the "parent branch" of this conversation tree (hope you gals know what I mean). Sorry for misunderstanding.

I find Matilda to be a very ugly name - sorry. I know a woman named Matilda, and she doesn't like her name, and only goes by Dottie. I didn't even know Matilda was her name until I knew her for nearly 5-years. I find Sabrina to be too over-the-top and frilly for my liking. Avalon and Midori are too "out there" for my taste. But, in the land of children named Kylie and Brick, they're nothing too odd. :) Belle Ruth is a little choppy - perhaps Bella Ruth.Edit: Spelling.

I like Matilda but I prefer Mathilda. Sabrina is OK. I love Avalon and Midori- they are useable if you are willing to be daring. I do in fact think that Belle Ruth is too choppy, but I love those names separately. Instead, how about Belinda Ruth or Bella Ruth?

Hiya,Matilda - I love this name. And I don't ever imagine witches with it.
Sabrina - I know a lot of Sabrina's who have ruined this name for me, but even when I just think
of the name, I always picture Audrey Hepburn first. I have a German aunt, her name is Zabina (pr.
like Sabina with a Z instead of the S), I don't know if you like that.Avalon - Avalon is a home for abused / untreatable / etc kids near me. It's a little hard for me to get
past this association.
Midori - I love this name, it's so much fun to say. I know a woman by the name Medori (meh-DORE-ee,
I would pr. Midori as MID-or-ee). Every person I've mentioned this to thinks it's a fun name.Belle Ruth - I think it does sound a little choppy. What about Bella Ruth, Isabelle Ruth, Isabella Ruth,
Gabrielle Ruth, Gabriella Ruth, Brielle Ruth ...?

Belle is my Grandmother's name, and Bella would be confusing since my niece's name is Ella, the rest are nms. But thank you!
