[Opinions] Helena ...
WDYT of Helena?
I've always thought it was pretty, but never really considered using it. Now I'm thinking that Helena Ruth would sound nice.
Also, do you pronounce Selene as se-LEEN or se-LEE-nee?

I love it. I prefer the heh-LAY-nah pronunciation over the Helen-ah one (and I dislike heh-LEE-nah), but both are nice. Helena Ruth is gorgeous.
I always thought Selene was pronounced like Celine (Dion) until I came to this site and it's listed here as seh-LEE-nee. I actually like the latter pronunciation much more than seh-LEEN.

I love it pron. Hel-leen-nuh or Huh-leen-nuh.
I always want to say Selene seh-leh-nee but it sadly is actually said se-LEEN, or at least I've only ever heard it said se-LEEN. But this site says it is said se-LEE-nee, so maybe all the other people have just been saying it wrong, that gives me hope. Helena Ruth sounds pretty good together, even if I don't really care for either name, but they sound good togther. And I should probably put a warning on all my replys saying "Warning: person giving her opinion is extremely strange and tends to dislike any names that are really popluar or have been used too much over the ages. Note: Most people are not like her so don't take her seriously." jk of course but probably most people tend to like popular names, but even I do think those names sound good together.

Helena is a very nice name (better than Helen, I think), and Helena Ruth does flow nicely. I pronounce it as Hel-EE-nah, by the way.
I pronounce Selene as Sel-EEN. I don't care for it, as it sounds cut off. Selena sounds more complete, but I don't care for that either.
Edit: Spelling.

I think Helena is pretty, although I like Alaina and Elaine even more. I pronounce it to rhyme with Alaina; I think Helen with an a tacked on the end is extremely awkward. Helena Ruth could be nice; I guess it depends on the last name and the flow.
If I met a Selene, I would probably pronounce the name se-LEEN, assuming that was the pronunciation Selene herself used. But I think se-LEEN-ee is much prettier and it's also closer to the original Greek mythological name.

I love it! One of my consistently favourite names. I pronounce it heh-LAYN-uh, but also like HEL-en-uh. It's amazing how much difference the "a" makes to the name's style. To me, Helen is very stale and plain -- whereas Helena is a name that stops you in your tracks. You notice how pretty it is.
For Selene, I say seh-LEE-nee :-)

I usually pronounce Helena as ha-LEE-na, but most say HEL-e-na. I personally prefer ha-LEE-na because it sounds prettier
I like the combination Helena Caroline. Ruth is difficult for me to pronounce. It's also common and boring, so I don't care for it. I'd go with a family name that you like.
