[Opinions] Sidney
What do you think of the name Sidney on a boy? I know most people consider it mostly a girl name now but I love it on a boy.

YAY!! Company. I'd use it too (providing future hubby agrees and I have more than 3 sons.)

I'm not a big fan of the name, but I have to agree that it is so much better on a male. I actually find it quite a masculine name. I'm surprised so many people see it as a girly name!

I much prefer it for a boy. It isn't something I would probably ever use, but I don't mind it at all.

Sorry... not for me. I just think of the nickname being 'Sid', which I find really unattractive.

YAY!! On a boy!I love Sidney, it's in my top 5 for boys. I've tried to dampen down my love of it (I can imagine the comments if I use it) but it doesn't work, I love it too much. I find it very handsome. I was very pleased last year to see a Sidney Michael David in a birth announcement in my local paper. It just doesn't work at all for a girl, I can't see the attraction personally. Thankfully it's rarely seen in my part of England.

My niece is named Sydney. I think it is a ok name for a girl, not a favorite but not bad. The one thing that bothers me is that her name is always shortened to 'Syd' which I would really like on a boy, but think is not very flattering on a girl. I do like Sidney for a boy, again, not a favorite but better than Sydney for a girl.

I think it's nice for a boy, though I don't really care for it. I hate it on a girl though.

I loathe this name on a boy or a girl. It sounds extremely ugly to me, and reminds me of kidneys. Sorry!

For a boy, I love it...only for a boy

I too like it for a boy. It has a whole other feel if it's used as a female name.

:::claps::: I'm so happy you posted that Sidney would be for a boy! While I don't care for the name, I only prefer it for a boy, with that spelling only.

I love it!Sidney is among my favorites for a boy (and the spelling you used is the one I would use for a boy). Go for it and help reclaim Sidney for the boys!

I prefer it on a girl, and generally I don't like masculine names on little girls. It just fits better to me. It sounds very soft, IMO.
