[Opinions] Need help with a nickname...Edited
I am writing a story and need help with a nickname for the name Elizabeth. (Using Elizabeth itself is out of the question because there is another character named Elizabeth as well and it would be confusing for the reader.) The story is set in the 17th century. Which of the following nicknames for Elizabeth do you like best? (Please keep the time period in mind.) If you think of any others feel free to suggest them, thanks!Eliza
Liza
Beth
Betty
Betsy
Lizzie
Liz
Ellie
Abby (too much of a stretch? the ab is there in the name though...)
Libby
Bess
Bessie
Buffy
Elsie
Tetty
Izzy
LilibethEdited to add some more choices.

Ellie definitely gets my vote...I think it's such a sweet nickname for Elizabeth.Abby seems like a bit of a stretch, but I really like the name, itself.Elsie and Lilibeth are cute, though I prefer the sp Lily Beth.Ella is another nickname I really like.

For the 17th century, I'd go with Elsie or Bess.

Elisa
Lisa
Lisbet/Lisbeth
Lissa
Lissie/Lissy
Bet
Lizzy
Ella
Elle
Lisabet
Liss/Lyss
Lizbet/LizbethFor that time, I'd be inclined to say Eliza or Betsy if she's adult, Lisbet for a teen, but Lissy or Elsie if she's younger. And ditto on Beth sounding shy.
I think Abby's a little bit of a stretch, sorry. :)

oh I like Lilibeth (they actually did use this!). But it's not on your list! Either Libby or Eliza would work best, but if she's shy then Beth
