So, Desmond....WDYT? I think it's really handsome, though I don't think I'd ever use it myself.
Is it too girly? Uh...no? That's like asking if Edmond's girly, IMO--it just doesn't compute.
Is it or will it be too popular? I think it's a lesser Elliot, of sorts. Same kind of trend (the intellectual male name with a sheen of the old-fashioned, a la Henry, Julian), but lower on the charts. Make of that what you will.
Does everyone only think of LOST? No. I think of Desmond and Molly in "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da."
Do you like any NNs like Dez or Dezi, or do you think that makes it girly? Was Desi Arnez girly? That answers the question, far as I'm concerned. You seem rather preoccupied with the possibility of this name somehow sounding feminine.
...I'd spell them Des and Desi, though.
Any mn ideas? Desmond Arlo, Desmond Christophe, Desmond Julius, Desmond Terrence, Desmond Quincy, Desmond Wilfred, Desmond Craig, Desmond Rene, Desmond Gregory, Desmond Elias, Desmond Elijah.
