I like the sound and the meaning "dove" but I can't get past the pigeon meaning. Most people wouldn't know this though, if it's any comfort.

It reminds me of salami or some sort of sausage. I don't know where that association comes from but I can't get past it. I also don't think the formation "oma" - it reminds me of cancer (melanoma, lymphoma etc.) Sorry! The meaning is nice.

It's not an absolute favourite but I do really like Paloma. It's not a common name you really ever hear so that adds to me liking it even more.

Paloma does mean dove, but it also means pigeon :) And that's something very hard to overcome for me. And then there's the fact that paloma is slang for dorky where I live (it is a very regional thing so nothing to worry about though, most of the Spanish speaking world does not acknowledge this meaning). That being said, I do like the sound of the it and the "dove" meaning. I wouldn't call my daughter Paloma just as I wouldn't call her any other animal name, but I can see its appeal for speakers of languages other than Spanish.

I've actually been thinking a lot about Paloma and have rather been liking it. It's a sweet name I think, elegant, educated, refined, and would be cute on a little girl or grown woman. And I really love the meaning of 'dove'.
Paloma is a little hard to say but other than that I don't seen and other drawbacks on it.
It's a bit like Pamela in it's sound and I think it might be a nice way of honoring some named Pamela. Really liking it! :)

I really love the sound, it is beautiful. Unfortunately the meaning bothers me. Dove is ok. But pigeons are hideous to me. Despite Darwin being so fond of them, I cannot warm to the creatures. I tend to prefer Pomona which has a similar sound and a less unsettling meaning for me.
