[Opinions] Isolde.
A few questions.#1. WDYT of the name?
#2. Would it be ridiculous to use this name, considering I can't stand the name Tristan? (sorry to the Tristan lovers - I know you're out there!)
#3. How do you pronounce this name?

#1. I love this name. It's on my favorites' list.#2. I don't think it's ridiculous to use it. Most of the people I know wouldn't recognize the origin of the name anyway.#3. I pronounce the name ih-SOLD-uh. I suspect ih-SOLD is more correct, though.

1. I love it, it is so pretty and different
2. Definitely not ridiculous! I hate the name Tristan too, it is so soppy and weak. As long as you don't hate the myth, I think it is fine
3. iz-OLD-uh

That's exactly why I don't like Tristan too! How a "Hero" got a name like that is beyond me.

Isolde is beautiful. I'll start liking it. I went to school with a girl named Izolda. I'd pronounce it as I-sold-ee, like Zoe and Chloe. Love and go for it because it's tempting! :)

1. I like it, actually :)2. I don't think it would be ridiculous at all, and I'm not entirely sure that too too many people would recognize the connection.3. I pronounce it as [i-ZOL-de], but most folks I know say [i-ZOLD].

It's gorgeous. I adore it. I'm not a Tristan fain either. It reminds me too much of the French word "triste," i.e., sad. But I do like the variant Tristram. I pronounce it, "ih-ZOLE-da."

#1. Isolde is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It's my favourite name in English but also in Catalan (my language), in the forms of Iseut [ee-ZEHOOT] and Isolda [ee-zol-duh]. #2. Why should it be ridiculous? It would only be ridicoulous, imo, if you named your kids Isolde and Tristan. Otherwise, it doesn't matter at all! :-D#3. ee-ZOHLd

#1. I think it's gorgeous.
#2. I think it would be ridiculous to use it only if you hate the story/myth of Tristan & Isolde, but not liking the name Tristan doesn't really matter, imo.
#3. I used to think it was "supposed" to be prn. ih-ZOLE-duh, but now I know there are tons of other pronunciatons. :-/ That's my personal reason for not wanting to use it, btw. But the above pronunciation is still my favorite. :)

1- I actually really like. :-)
2- Of course not! It's like naming a child Juliet but not liking Romeo. Why should it matter if you don't?
3- eez-old
