Hi there! I lived in Austria for a while so am also familiar with the name. To tell the truth, I dislike it. I find the majority of German girls names to be rather unattractive though, can't help it! Even though I'm quite used to Petra, for some reason being used on an American kid it makes me think of a character in a computer game or something. People would also probably pronounce it PETT-ra or PETE-ra. The name certainly isn't bad and it is nice that it's a bit different in the US (I'm assuming you're in the US or an English speaking country, anyway). Good luck! Do you have a middle name chosen?
