I like Amos a lot. It fits in the sibset wonderfully!

I like it. We've talked about using it as a middle name if we ever have a third son. (I had a great-uncle Amos.)

I really like it. It fits in so well with your other kid's names. The only thing is that it sounds a little similar to Iris, as both end in a strong "ss" sound. If that doesn't bother you and it's not a big drama really, then go for it. I also like Bernard, nn Bernie too.

Amos works quite well with the other siblings names. I also like it the best out of the names you listed, but none of them are really my style.

I love Amos and I think it goes very nicely with your other children's names, IMO. I think Iris and Amos are a tad bit similar, but as long as that doesn't bother you then it's all good. I went to elementary school with an Amos, and my best friend has considered using it for her future son as part of a double-barreled fn (Amos Ross - both are family names). The Famous Amos connection is strong in the U.S.--it's a restaurant and a brand of cookies, and occasionally the restaurant is referred to as "Flamin' Anus". :-/ (lol) But being in the U.K., doesn't sound like this would be an issue for you, so I wouldn't worry. :b

I'm glad your DH at least likes Amos. I like the majority of the names on your list esp. Cedric, Victor, Basil, Albert, and Otis (though this is very similar to Iris...maybe Otto as an alternative?).

Amos is a name which I used to dislike but it has grown on me, I think it would fit well with your other childrens names
Ptolomy is a great sounding name, its a name I love but would never use,
Walter Victor Bernard and Basil are middle names only to me
Otis I dont like the sound of
Albert though I like it was the name of my sisters first husband so I could never use it, if not for this connection it would be on my middle names list.
Cedric and Cosmo- not really sure about these though

While i really like the name Amos, the meaning is really harsh. Here on BTN they kind of mellow it out, but other sources quote it as meaning "encumbered" or "bearer of burdens". Not something i would like to bestow upon my son. Too bad, because it is a cool name for a boy.
