[Opinions] Greta and Ingrid...
do you think Greta could stand on its own? WDYT of it?Also what are your opinions on Ingrid? I know children aren't children forever but do you think it would suit a child? Finally, would either name (Greta or Ingrid) go in a sib set with Evadne? Thanks in advance :)

i LOVE Greta and i actually like Ingrid, too. Ingrid is the name of my Swedish midwife, so it holds a dear place in my heart.

I love Greta and Ingrid and I think they sound wonderful as a sibset. Although I also love Evadne, I don't think it goes well with the other names due to it's origin.

I love both Greta (on its own, yes) and Ingrid, and I think they'd sound gorgeous for sisters. I slightly prefer Ingrid at the moment, though. I'm not sure either one fits terribly well in a sibset with Evadne, but if I had to pick, Evadne and Ingrid sounds a bit better than Greta and Evadne to me, for some reason. :b

Greta could stand alone but it's better as a nickname. If you hate Margaret, what about Marguerite or Margarita / Margherita?I love Ingrid, and think it would be adorable on a little girl. Both names are lovely with Evadne.

I love both Greta and Ingrid! DH and I have thought about these names before. We both have obsessions with Greta Garbo.I think that Greta can definitely stand on its own, and I think that it is positively a lovely name.I can picture Ingrid on a beautiful girl of any age, even a baby. I've also been thinking a lot about the name Inger, which DH absolutely does not like on account of its being too close to the word 'anger.' *shrugs* I still think it's nice.I don't know if I would pair either Greta or Ingrid with Evadne, to be honest. I just see both of those names in a different class of name, I suppose, so I don't know if I think they would exactly go well together. :-)

Greta is one of my favorite names. It could totally stand on it's own. It reminds me of one of my favorite actresses, Greta Garbo!I dont' like INgred at all, it's not a pretty name in my opinon. All three names have that German sound, that would go well together.

I think Greta could definitely stand on it's own but I like it the best as a nick name for Margaret. I think Ingrid is lovely. With old is new again names being all the rage this season ;) Ingrid could definitely work. I think Ingrid and Evadne is a great set for sisters.

Greta is very cute, and yes, it does stand on its own. I know it's really meant to be short for Margaret, but I never heard of a Greta who was anything other than just Greta. Gretchen is also cute.I'm not fond of Ingrid, it hasa harsh, gritty sound to me. I can only picture a scary old German lady with this name, in spite of the beautiful Ingrid Bergman. Inga is cuter.Together, the names sound very Germanic or Noric, and for that reason Evadne would seem a bit out of place.

I think Greta's fine on its own. it doesn't sound especially nicknamey to me. I don't personally like it a great deal, but it is cute. I like Ingrid and I would love to see it on a little girl. I find it adorable.Evadne (which I love) sounds good with both names, imo. The styles may not really match, but I still think they're nice together.

Greta
Greta is my favourite name for a girl & quite possibly my future daughter's name. Most definitely Greta can stand on its own. I also think it is very suitable for a young girl or an older woman. Ingrid
I adore Ingrid. It's strong & classy. I went to school with a very sweet girl named Ingrid Louise so personally I can picture it on a younger person. Of course it will age well. Both Greta & Ingrid make me think of elegance & grace. I think of Greta Garbo & Ingrid Bergman. I think Greta & Ingrid would make a gorgeous sibset. Evadne seems very current & trendy to me so I wouldn't pair it with timeless names like Greta & Ingrid personally.

I love Greta and Ingrid together, but Evadne is my favourite name from mythology along with Artemis (but now it's being used for a boys name due to Artemis Fowl grr) though names like it are becoming popular eg. Imogen and Freya. Could I just ask if you know any Evadne's?

No I don't know any Evadne's personally, but I have been seeing it often on the boards lately. I don't think Greta & Evadne or Ingrid & Evadne are distasteful at all. I just wouldn't pair them together. It's a personal preference. I think it's very tasteful to use mythological names. My favourite is Alethea. I also like Ariadne.

Oh, Ingrid is definitely a sweet moniker for a wee lass. It works well on a little one and grows with the child. If you don't think so, just look up a picture of Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway. Definitely a little darling and her name just fits her. :)I think Greta can stand on its own, thanks to Miss Garbo. It's lovely.Of the two names, I think Ingrid works best with Evadne. Both have this mythological aura about them. While Greta is utterly gorgeous, I think it's in a different category altogether than Evadne and each would sound out of place next to the toher.

I love Greta... I had a thread about it about three down. I prefer it as a nickname for Margaret, but I think it could stand alone too. I don't like Ingrid at all, I think it sounds a bit masculine and dull. I much prefer Inga, which is very similar but much more feminine and pretty.

Thanks... Inga is pretty
