[Opinions] Re: Eliza
Eliza is nice, but I much prefer Elizabeth, nn Eliza. There are several reasons this could be.
1. I just like Elizabeth so much better. Eliza sounds harsher and coarser to me.
2. Eliza seems incomplete on its own.
3. I have an obsession with "complete" names. :) It could be the "trendy American intellectual compulsion" that Akis was talking about yesterday, or maybe mirfak's comment of "middle class American social insecurity," but either way, I like the the full name for the birth certificate. Example: I like Kate, but would never, ever, name a child that. It would have to be Katherine, nn Kate. The same with Rae. I love it as a mn (Gabriella Rae), but could never bring myself to use Rae without the Rachel. Not sure why, the concept of naming a kid a nn just scares me. :(
