I've loved Apollonia for over a decade now--ever since my maternal grandmother gave me one of my many books of saints and I read about the story of St. Apollonia. My younger sister will likely take Apollonia as her Confirmation name, since Apollonia's story is an excellent one about standing up for one's faith (and the saint's feast day is on her birthday). How do you beat throwing yourself in a bonfire to keep others from sinning by pushing you in?
