I've used it as a character name in a short story - but I don't think I'd use it for a child. It is pretty, though.

The star associations are nice, however, I could never use it myself because the only Vega I ever met was an annoying fat middle aged woman with an obsession for macrobiotic food and since the name is so rare, I unavoidably think of her when I hear it.

I think I kinda like it for a girl. Was that the name of the girl in My Girl? I can't remember but it was something unusual that started with a V.

It's the name of a radio station here in Oz. Don't like it for a person.
