Mara is wonderful and I love it. I'd prefer to use it as a first name, so I could (maybe) have something more fanciful as a middle name.

eta: Mara is a meaningful word in many languages and cultures. The first thing I'm reminded of is Mara the demon who tempted Siddhartha Gautama. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mara_%28demon%29) I don't think that's something most people would think of, though, and I secretly think it's a pretty cool association. For other associations (and there are rather a lot!) check out the Wiki Mara disambiguation page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mara. Anyway, I like the name a lot.
