[Opinions] Ailish
I've been mulling over the name Ailish lately for my baby girl who will be born in two weeks (!). What do you think of the name in general? Also, how do you think it would be pronounced by people who saw it written for the first time and had never heard it spoken before? And, do you think it is a name that other kids would easily make fun of?Thanks for your feedback!

Our next child if a daugher will be Ailish. It's beautiful. Yes, eyelash could very well be a mean nickname, but I can think of a lot worse things to be called. Kids can make fun of every single name out there. John - hahaha- thats a toilet - Mary - Where's your little lamb? Ailish is beautiful.

It's ok, but not my favourite of all names. I would pronounce it AY-LISH. I don't think other kids would make fun of it. What NN's would you use? Thanks

I prefer Eilis. It's pretty, though. And I'd pronounce it AY-leesh.

1. What? Why? What is it? Why are you considering it? What is good about it? (I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a bit baffled right now and maybe you can turn me around.)
2. Ail-ish. What's it supposed to be?
3. Yes.Congratulations :)

I've seen Ailis, Ailish, Eilis, and Eilish and I'm not positive how any of them are pronounced (or maybe there are multiple possibilities), as I've heard AY-lish and EYE-lish for both. I like the Ailis and Eilis spellings best and slightly prefer the EYE-lish spelling, but I worry it sounds too much like 'eyelash'. :-/ And AY-lish sounds kind of like you're describing someone who's sick a lot (they ail, so they're 'ail-ish' lol). ETA: Just clicked on Ailis, and I'd forgotten about the -leesh pronunciation. That just makes me think of leashes for dogs, unfortunately. I guess it mainly depends on where you live, though.... (i.e. the U.K. vs. the U.S., etc.).

I agree about the 'eyelash' thing...that's all I think of

How exactly are you pronouncing it? ay-LEESH, AY-leesh, AY-lish, ay-LISH?
Looking at it, it seems to say "ail-ish", like, oh, she's ailing... It's pretty, though.
