I think Carys is lovely and wish it would become more popular in the US. I've never heard the name pronounced, but I would assume it's pronounced like CARE-iss. I don't have any stereotypes about Carys and I can't think of any teasing nicknames that would come from it. Have no doubt, though, if little Carys is unpopular enough, someone will find a way to make fun of her name. :( If she's popular, her name could be Brunhilda and her classmates would still be okay with it (not really, but you get my point). :D
