[Facts] Re: my name means
in reply to a message by Alina
Most commonly, Alina or Aline is a short form of Adeline, from an Old German word meaning ‘nobility’.
Aline (which may be rendered in English as Haline because of a "rough breathing" on A) is also documented as classical name in the Oxford Lexicon of Greek Personal Names. The Greek version of the name is derived from "Alinos" meaning "salty".

Besides barting, I think the Greek version of Alina explained above also gives the etymology of "Saline" - not a popular girls name nowadays :P
