[Surname] Wicksey
I can't quite get my head around this one, it looks like a place name (possibly ON 'ey' meaning "island"?) but is the first element the same as Wick(s) the surname or is there another possibility...ON 'veikr' meaning "weak, feeble" perhaps.---------------------------------------

There was a word, VIK, which meant a place where a market was held. I think a vik was an unofficial market, i.e., one for which no charter was granted, so they were usually held outside of towns.
Another meaning of VIK was "creek" or "inlet". The Vikings were so called because of their habit of skulking about in inlets.

Thanks, that sounds quite likely actually, seeing as it would fit well with the second element. : )---------------------------------------
