[Surname] Meaning of McNeece
Irish or Scottish origin... probably shortened from MacNeece... could be a variant maybe of McNeese. Mac means son of, I think, anyone have any information?

It's a variant of MacNeice which is numerous in East Ulster. In Irish it is Mac Naois, but more correctly Mac Aonguis (from Angus, literally "one + love", but generally translated to mean exceptional). The name is synonymous with Mac Guinness and Neeson.
Mac and Mc are the same, Mc is just an abbreviation - it makes no difference to the surname etymologically.
It sounds to me like a variant of MacNeese, which is a shortened form of Mac Aonghuis meaning "son of Angus". It's Irish apparently.
Hope this helps. : )
