[Facts] Pronunciation of h in Arabic names
Is the h in Hiba pronounced like in English, not at all, or as a velar fricative (like Scottish loch)? What about the h in Farah? Is it silent? (I mean, in the original Arabic pronunciation, not the English one.)*****

The h in Hiba is pronounced as in English, a voiceless glottal fricative:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_glottal_fricativeThe h in Farah is not silent, but pronounced with a sound inexistent in English (voiceless pharyngeal fricative):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_pharyngeal_fricative(you have sound sample). It is possible that in some Arabic dialects the sounds can be something different. Here you have the equivalences of the Arabic letters and the sounds (in IPA):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_alphabetAttention: the equivalences are valid for Arabic language, but can not be correct for other languages using the Arabic alphabet.
