Egyptian Princess' post reminded me. I know an elderly lady named Rubbie (as in Ruby). I always have to look at it twice to say it correctly. But what do you think?

Rubbie is a no. I think the best spelling is the traditional "Ruby". My best friend's name is spelt Rubee-Helen Thompson and she loathes it.

When spelled as Ruby, I think it's lovely. Ruby used to be on my top three names for girls list, with the combo Ruby Nadine.

I love the name Ruby. But I really dislike that spelling of it. It makes me want to pronounce it Rubby.

I love Ruby.

Rubbie is awful, I want to prn. it completley different- Rub-ee rather than Rube-ee.

Looks like something I child would name their rubber duck, and there is no way I would get the Ruby pr. out of that unless told. I do like Ruby a lot, though.

I like Ruby, but the spelling of Rubbie is confusing. I can sort of understand (though wouldn't advise) spellings that help pronounce the name eg. Caoimhe to Keeva, but Rubbie? I really don't see the point.

I would have to stop myself from saying Rub-ee, rub as in please rub my neck, everytime I saw it written.

Rubbie does nothing for me.

I love Ruby, and I am on a constant quest to convince everyone else they don't, since my petite soeur likes being the only one she knows. ;)
