[Opinions] Soames
What do you think of the name Soames? Should it be left for middle name status? Do you think the mn's Soames and Bram go well together? That is, one boy has the mn Soames and one has the mn Bram. Do you have any good fn's to go with Bram or Soames?

For a one-syllable name it sounds long and dwan out when I say it. the s a the beginning and end makes it seem hissy and the oam makes me want to emphasize the oh sound by saying it s bit longer so for me it sounds like SOOOOOOOOOHMZZZZZZZZ or something like that. Bram is alright. I don't understand why fns have to match, so I really don't understand trying to make mns cohesive. Soames and Bram are fine together.

Like... Ohm's law with an 's' at the beginning?I think it would be nice as a middle name, but it sounds just a little too surname-y. Bram just reminds me of bran muffins.

It reminds me of "soap". But Soames is pleasing to the eye, and has a nice sound, so I'd say go for it. What is wrong with Bram and Soames as first names?

Oh, they could be good but they seem a little "soft" for my fn naming style.

Soames is too surname-y as a fn for me, but I kind of like it as a GP (blame it on "The Forsyte Saga" and then picturing Damian Lewis in the role ;b).

I actuallyused to know someone named Soames. I hadn't thought about him in years!I think Soames and Bram are fine together, especially in the middle spot. Even in the first they'd be fine.

It is hard for me to describe how it is pronounced. The So- is like the so- in soap. The -mes is somewhat like saying Mmm's.
That was the most horrible description of how to say Soames. If anyone can help that would be great!

That's how I'd describe it.At least that's how my friend pronounced it.

Oh, thats it! Thanks!

Is it just like SOHMZ? That would make sense. I wasn't sure if it was all stretched out like SOH-ah-meez, or what. Do you know its origin at all?

My friend was named after this guy:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_SoamesIt's a surname, but I don't know where it originated.

I first saw it in the Forsythe Saga series. I have no idea about the origin besides that little point.
