[Opinions] Drusilla
I'm loving this name more and more recently. What does everyone think of it? I know there is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reference (she was one of the evil vampires. I always liked her character though would never use this name to name my kid after the character) but this name also was the name of (I believe this is the right one) a sister of the Roman Emperor Caligula. It also has a biblical reference and means "strong."I'd us a nn of Dru. WDYT?(edited to remove the links on the name)

I love Drusilla and the nn Dru. Something about it seems dark, though, probably the vampire association, and the Caligula/incest relation doesn't help. But taking into account the biblical reference, or just disregarding the different associations altogether, I've always thought Drusilla sounded strong, pretty, and historic.

I wish I liked it, but I can't get past the supposed incestuous relationship with Caligula.

Love itDrusilla, to me, is very sophisticated and strong. I've always loved the way it evokes ancient Rome. And the nn Dru is so cute. I'd love to meet a little Drusilla some day. I hate the way one cheesey pop culture reference can ruin a name for most people. The Little Mermaid has made my job of popularizing Ursula so much harder. And don't even get me started on the Omen and what it did to the name Damian / Damien for a whole generation. Argh.I hope you don't give up on the name Drusilla. One day this silly TV show will be not be remembered and people will begin to rediscover Drusilla, the way they are now rediscovering Damian / Damien. Be ahead of the curve and use Drusilla now. And could I interest you in naming her little sister Ursula? Dru and Lulu?

It's a shame this name has such negative connotations. Sister of Caligula is really awful, but I do like the Buffy character. It's a nice name, either way, and I like it quite a lot. It's pretty and very strong sounding. I personally think Silla would be a better nn than Dru.

kinda sounds like Godzilla to me, unless im pronouncing it wrong, but in the US, it would most likely be pronounced dru-ZIL-la Tia

I'm in the US, and I automatically pronounce it DRU-sil-a. That's how they said it on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and that was a really popular show here. I'd be very surprised to hear someone say dru-ZIL-a.

Not to sound argumentative, but being from the states and Canada I've never heard it prncd dru-zil-ah, just like I've never hear Priscilla prncd w/ a 'z'

I'm American (Pacific Northwest) and I've only heard it pronounced, "dru-SIL-a," more like Priscilla.

My thoughts exactly.

I actually quite like it. Dru would be an adorable nn.I'd love to see a little Drusilla in a class full of Neveah's.

I don't really like the sound of Drusilla (it always makes me think of Cinderella's evil stepsisters... was one of them named Drusilla??) but the nn Dru is cute!

I think Drusilla is a really nice name, and for some reason reminds me of the type of thing that might come from a Tim Burton film. It just seems fairy like. But I like it, and I've never watched a Buffy episode. Dru is a spunky nn.
