[Opinions] Iris or Siri?
So, our baby is due to arrive any day now, and we're still a little up in the air about a name if it's a girl. We've gone through many rounds of looking at many names, and the two we have it narrowed down to are Iris and Siri. (Weird that they are palindromes of each other, huh?). The main question we have: Our daughter's name is Ingrid. We have some qualms that Iris might sound too much like Ingrid or too "match-y". What do you think? Which do you think sounds better with big sister's name?

I'm really liking Siri a lot these days. One of my dds has a friend named Sigrid who was born in Norway. Her family calls her Sirii (this spelling).

Agreed.

I love both!I'd go for Siri, maybe just because I think it goes better with Ingrid. But either way, both Siri and Iris are great!

I adore Iris, but Ingrid and Iris are a bit too cutesy together, imo. Siri is wonderful and matches Ingrid in style so well, but without being "matchy". Depending on where you live, Iris may or may not be popular, but Siri is definitely less so. So Siri gets my vote. Good luck!

Iris all the waymy only reason being i know a Siri and she's encredibly annoying!! but also she always has trouble with people saying 'is that your real name?' or calling her the wrong thing - she's been called 'Sari', 'Syria' and all manner of ridiculous things which i dont think you'd get with Iris.BTW i think Ingrid and Iris are absolutely gorgeous!

Well, Siri is short for Sigrid, no? So Ingrid and Sigrid would be very match-y as well. So it's a draw on that score.I prefer Iris as a name, but Ingrid and Iris does seem too cutesy. Ingrid and Siri have a more natural feel to them -- they just sound like sisters already. It's probably not fair to do this to you at such a late date, but instead of Iris, how about Alice / Alix? (Alix is the German form of Alice, no matter what the database here at BtN says.) Ingrid and Alix really sound nice together, to my ears.In any event, you can't go wrong with either Iris or Siri. You have beautiful taste in names, as evidenced by Ingrid. My pseudonym on another site was "Ingrid Maia." :-) Hey! How about Ingrid and Maia . . . ? (I'm sorry, I'll go away and stop adding to the problem.)

Ingrid and Alix would be gorgeous!and I totally forgot Siri is short for Sigrid :( Sigrid and Ingrid would be a no go from me, but if you're fine that Siri is on it's own then my vote still lies with Siri.

Sorry, meant to be under main post.I love both. How's that for unhelpful. I think both names sound great with Ingrid. Maybe just wait until she's born and see which name fits her.

Siri - Siri and Ingrid are lovely.

Ingrid and Iris sound lovely together, IMO. I usually don't like matchy names but the beginning sounds of these are different. Siri is nms because it sounds like "serious".

Iris and Siri are lovely. (By they way, they are not palindromes, they are anagrams). My vote goes to Siri. It's lovely, and avoids any confusion with (the amazing name) Ingrid. Siri is also lesser known. Iris is becoming popular.

I'd choose Iris. It's a lovely name! And even though Iris and Ingrid both begin with "I", they begin with different sounds. I don't think it's matchy, in fact, I think they sound great together. Good luck!

I think Siri would go better with Ingrid than Iris would, they're too close.
