Maybe you should concider spelling it differently as your pronounciation will probably result in the name being misspelt as Liona or Leona.

My nephew's fianceeis named Liana.A pretty name, but I have found it mysteriously difficult to remember.

Liana is pretty enough pronounced the correct way. I know a couple of Liana's who both go by Lee, unfortunately imo.Your pronounciation would make me think the name is spelt Leona.Greta

I adore Liana, pronounced lee-AH-nah. LEE-on-ah sounds very strange to my ears.

Your pronunciation strikes me as counterintuitive and difficult to say.As lee-AH-nah, it doesn't do a great deal for me, but it's not terrible. I used to like it pretty well, but it blends in so thoroughly with bland Liliana and Juliana that I've gone off it. As LEE-on-uh...well, my mouth refuses to pronounce it that way, even when I try to. I don't dig.Array

It's pronounced lee-A-nah . You can look it up in the dictionary. ;) It's my top choice for a girl.

I posted my pronunciation, not the official one.

You weren't clear about that. It's up to you, but you'll have to correct everyone with that pronunciation.

that's how I pronunciated it before I even read it.

I don't know anyone that's ever heard of the name, so I don't worry about it.

Well, it is a word in the English language too, not just a name...

Liana is very pretty. I would probably pronounce it Lee-Anna. It's a bit unusual without being weird or difficult.

Thank you! I totally agree with the weird and difficult part. So many names on this site I can't even pronounce, and if I understand it's pronunciation it sounds terrible and doesn't flow making it hard to say.
