Help[Opinions] Maggie...
Recently I have really found myself loving "older" names... Lydia, Tess, Caroline, Charlotte, Abigail, and MAGGIE. The only question I have is I'm not a huge fan of the name Margaret, not enough to actually name a daughter Margaret to give her the nickname Maggie.
So...any sugestions for names that I could give with the nickname Maggie? Would Maggie work well by itself?
The only name I have found so far that I would consider is Marguerite, as it was my great-grandma's name, which I like a lot better than Margaret or Marjorie.

I struggle with the "just Maggie" question myself. I loathe Margaret, but I worry that Maggie just doesn't cut it. Lately, we've been liking Marguerite, but I'm not sure. Besides, I sort of prefer Daisy as a nn for that variant anyways and I really don't think more formal names are always necessary and see that Maggie is becoming like Lily in that they're not needed.

I have come across so many little Maggies lately that are 'just Maggie' and that bothers me for some reason. It's just SUCH a nn, to me, though I do like it a lot. I think there are so many great names it can be short for, other than Margaret, that have already been suggested. I think my faves are Magnolia and Marguerite. :)

I like Marguerite, but if it's been used so much, I could see why you would shy away from it. I adore the name Margot; it's on my PNL. I think that was a great suggestion. Maggie would work by itself, but honestly, it just doesn't do anything for me. The sound is so dull.

And I really do like Marguerite, but it has been used a lot throughout my large family as a middle name and once as a first name, she goes by Rita though...

That would be great then. You could have a Marguerite, to honor your gm, but still get to call her Maggie. And she wouldn't get confused with other family members. :b
