Help[Opinions] Hester
I'm currently wrapping up The Scarlet Letter, and I'm totally loving it. Of course, reading the book has put the name Hester into my mind. I love Esther (and yet never really considered using it as a FN), but there's something about Hester that really attracts me. It might be that I just like the character Hester Prynne. So, I'd like your opinions on the name-- is it too harsh or "old" feeling, etc. WDYT?
Also, a related question: based on The Scarlet Letter, do you think it would be weird to have a hypothetical son and daughter named Hester and Arthur? Does that fall into Romeo and Juliet territory? I kind of feel like it should, but then again, the minister is Dimmesdale to me, not Arthur. Do you think it's too much?

Hester is all right, imo, but I especially like Esther. BTW, The Scarlet Letter is what makes me love the name Pearl so much, I think.
As for Hester & Arthur...eh, that really doesn't sit right w/me. Yes, the minister is referred to Dimmesdale most of the time, but he's so *evil*! Arthur by itself connotes King Arthur, but Arthur & Hester give me a baaad vibe. :o/ On the other hand, Arthur & Esther / Ester don't bother me.
