[Facts] Old Danish???
A poster on big baby name board had Fritha as one of her favorite names. I can only find on the web that it's Old Danish and I dont know how to say it! Can you help please?

Ta! I know the name appears in "The Snow Goose", I just wanted to be sure how it was said. I hope someone else can shed some light for me. I should ask this poster on the other site. Didn't think to do that.

I'm Danish, but I've never heard the name before...But I would pronounce it something like "Fre-tah".

I think the "th" if Fritha was originally a letter now only used in Icelandic (and perhaps Faroese) - it looks a bit like the letter D and is pr. like "th" in "the". As far as I know, the name Fritha isn't commonly used in Denmark.

I believe it's pronounced FREE-ta (close to Frida, but the "free" is pronounced much shorter). It might also be pronounced as Fritta, however (similar to the word "wicca").
