[Opinions] Sophie
My friend Will came to visit me today (I am sick and he wanted to relieve some boredness) and with him he bought me a new goldfish. We decided it will be our child and discussed names for hours trying to agree on a name for 'our child'. Sophie ended up being the name.
As a result, it has me thinking about Sophie. It is a little common, but I love the meaning and to me it has a good balance of strength and femininity.
So, WDYT of Sophie?
MN suggestions?
Thanks :)

I love it. Although I like Sophie better. I kind of like it spelled Sofia or Sofie.
I prefer Sophia
I love Sophie! It has a gorgeous meaning and is delicate and feminine. I only know one Sophie so I don't think its that popular in Scotland. I think popularity depends on not statistics but on how many people you know called Sophie.
I love Sophie Rose though it is a bit predictable. Also Caoimhe Sophie and Keira Sophie. I like Sophie Llora and Sophie Marissa too.

I like Sophie much more than Sophia. Pretty much for all the reasons you said.
Sophie Elizabeth is the only Sophie I know, but it's really boring.
Sophie Honora springs to mind.

Sophie Miranda
Sophie Ismene (following the meaning/greekness thing here)

Can't stand it.
I like Sophia a lot, but would never use it because of the popularity. A friend just named their daughter it. It's a very sweet name. Sophie is too nicknamey for a full name.

I love Sophie/Sophia, but it is common. And, I don't like naming pets typical poeple names. Maybe more outlandish names.
I like the way Sophie rolls off the tongue. Phoebe is a good alternative. I thought I might use it, but it's just too popular. Especially considering that Sofia is also high up on the list, it doubles the amount of Sophia/Sofia's out there, it's probably #1 when combined.
I think of Jennifer Aniston, and Jennifer Love Hewett (or whatever) with their popular names. Then I think of people in school who had the #1 and #2 names when I was born...... I know SO many Jessica's. They seem to be fine with their names, I always felt that each Jessica was JESSICA. Like someone else said somewhere on here months ago, some kids don't want an unusual name, some just want to totally fit in, and have a name that is totally accepted and that everyone is used to. Considering all of this, I decided not to go with Sophia. Eventhough we're Italian and it would go so well.
Forgot to say.... back when Golden girls were on, and the Mom's name was Sofia, it never stuck me as a beautiful name or anything... Probably because she was a old grabby Italian woman.. hmmmm
