[Opinions] Eliza
Hi
We're considering Eliza for our next baby girl. How do you like the name Eliza, and what middle name do you think goes well with Eliza???
Dh likes Eliza Grace (his great aunt is Grace and she has no children and no namesakes) but I don't think it flows well w/ our last name Saulnier. Also, does Eliza Saulnier have too many s/z sounds slurred together???
Thanks!

Eliza Grace is very pretty. In regards to your surname...how often do you yell all three names at your DD Hannah? :o) With my kids, it's usually first + middle or first + last; I very rarely use all 3 names together.I, for some reason, can't seem to veer away from the combo Eliza Clementine for you. Maybe b/c they're both named in folksongs (Eliza Jane and My Darlin' Clementine) or maybe just b/c they fall into the old-but-making-a-comeback category. :o)Best wishes in choosing a name that you and your DH agree upon! :o)

Eliza Pearl works wonders for me ;) *couldn't resist*I think it works well with the last name, though Elisa flows smoother to my ears.

I like Eliza a lot. It is pretty :)
I don't think the flow of Eliza Grace is all that bad, and I think that honouring trumps flow. Personally I would much rather be named after someone than have a name that was chosen just because it flows.Another way to honour might be using Charis which means grace? Eliza Charis is cute.

I've never warmed to Eliza because I really don't care for the long 'i' sound, but it's a fine name. Actually, I think it sounds nicer with Saulnier (I'm assuming that Saulnier is French and pr. that way) because Eliza has a 'z' sound while the surname has the 's' sound than Grace Saulnier. The ending of Grace runs right into the surname.Have you considered Elise which is also French and sounds good with Saulnier? If you pronounced Elise the French way (eh-LEEZ), it would sound good with Saulnier. Of course, if you pronounced it the way most Americans do (a-LEES), you'd have the same situation as Grace Saulnier.Hope this helps.

I love Eliza and I think it's fine with your last name.I like that your husband wants to honor his great aunt, but I just do not like Grace as a middle name. It's overused...sometimes it seems like every other baby girl I hear about has the middle name Grace.Eliza Camille

Thank you. I love the combo "Eliza Margaret" but I can't get over the name Margaret being too dowdy. It's a secret crush name for me... but I want something that people will go "Wow, that's beautiful".We pronounce our ln 'Sol-nee-rrr' not the french way, unfortunately. We have an older daughter named Hannah, and I'd like to stick w/ the 'old name revived' theme (hoping to avoid the popularity this time). Thanks for the list!

Margaret is one of my favorite names. I don't think it is dowdy, so I would say "Wow, that's beautiful!" : )Hannah and Eliza go very well together.

I like Eliza, as well as most of the names Procelain listed. I do agree that it's a little common.

Eliza is too harsh for me personally. I prefer softer sounding names like Elise, Ella, Elsa, Elizabeth, Louise & Lucille. The name does run into your surname somewhat. Eliza Grace is way too common sounding.Eliza Adelle
