[Opinions] Here's my reason...
If you care to hear... ;-)
The movie and novel (Doctor Zhivago) that inspired my interest in the name were my teenage obsessions. They further developed my interests in cultures, geography, languages, and developed a new interest in names. The movie turned me into an old film buff and the poetry at the end of the book was my inspiration to write my own poetry. It sounds corny, but I seriously wonder how different I would be now if my mom had not invited me to watch the movie with her in the first place. I still love all of the interests I mentioned and I still write poetry. I also became a Greek name fanatic, which is also related to the whole Doctor Zhivago obsession, but more complicated to explain. All in all, Larisa is very reflective of me. I found out this past year that my grandma named my aunt/Godmother, Laura, after the character in the movie, Laura. Given the name similarities, I thought that was neat. It made me even more certain that I want to use Laris(s)a and Lara. :-)
