Damien and I met our freshman year of high school. We had a couple classes together, one of which was our band class - he played trombone, I played flute. Our sections had a heavy rivalry dating back to before anyone could remember, and we were involved in several prank wars against each other during band camps and trips. However, we somehow found ourselves dating by the end of freshman year, much to the dismay of our section mates. The relationship was on and off over our remaining three years of high school. Halfway through our senior year, he proposed. I accepted, and we married less than a month after graduating high school.
I was Mrs. Takahashi for a year and a half. The two of us attended a local community college. Unfortunately, we hadn't thought to discuss what our plans were after we were done with our two years there. I planned on attending a small arts college in the area, while Damien wanted to move halfway across the country to go to a large university. Neither of us were willing to budge or compromise, so we eventually and reluctantly went our separate ways. He recently moved back to the area after finishing college, and we talked about getting back together, but realized that if we hadn't been willing to compromise for each other back then, we probably wouldn't now. We decided it was for the best that we separated, and left it at that.
