John and I were thrilled to welcome to the world our beautiful twins, Olivia Jasmine and Jacob Austin. Livvy and Jacob are calm babies with such sweet dispositions, though of the two, Jacob is far more outgoing. Livvy is content to be held by those she is familiar with, while Jacob is happy with absolutely anyone.
And time certainly has flown by, with Elisabeth now five years old, and John now three. They both adore their baby brother and sister, though Ellie can more often than not be found with Livvy, while John can't wait for Jake to be old enough to play with.
Ellie is now officially a kindergartner, and I think Mommy had a harder time with her first day of school, than did Ellie. She was so excited to begin kindergarten and loved shopping for school supplies, particularly picking out her very own backpack, a Care Bear theme. On the first day, I could tell she was a little nervous and stood kind of close, not exactly wanting John and me to leave right away. After awhile, she adjusted to te new environment, found quite a few other little girls to play with, and was content to finish out the rest of the day on her own. Though, Mommy wasn't quite ready to let go, wondering how her baby girl was already off to kindergarten...it seems only yesterday she was Livvy's age. :-)
Nevertheless, we both got through the first day, and it was wonderful to see her come home from school with a huge smile on her face, and talking on and on about everything that had happened. She's learning so much, and loves to practice all the skills she's being taught; her favorites are definitely reading and writing.
John is content to be at home for the moment, but there are times that it seems he can't wait to join his big sister at school. They enjoy playing together and get along wonderfully, and she, in particular, loves to "teach" him whatever it is that she's learning, including how to write his name. John's a bright little boy with a sunny disposition, who loves to be outdoors with his Daddy. His favorite toys are his Hot Wheels car collection and race track.
