[Opinions] Shea
OK... at first I had Shea down as a definite girl's name. I had my beautiful combo, Shea Connemara, (thank you Bear) and now I can't get Shea for a boy out of my head. Is it a boy's name, girl's name, would it be cruel to put Connemara on a boy? I think it'd be criminal to break up this combo I'm in love with it. Any thoguhts at all?
thanks

I know it gets used for both girls and guys, but I've never liked it for a guy. I think it sounds too soft and feminine for a guy. To me, it sounds much nicer on a girl.
No!
Please don't use Shea for a boy when Shea Connemara is available to use on a girl. Please?
Seamus for a boy might be nice with the nn Shea, I suppose. But not with the mn Connemara. Seamus Connaught (Western region of Ireland in which Connemara is located) would be very handsome though. It's hard to pronounce in English. The closest I can come is "CON-uhkht" where the "kh" sound is a very dry, throaty "h."
But I really prefer Shea for a girl. Shea Connemara. :-)

Connemara is a breed of horse. I would not use it as a name. Even if you were to use it, it sounds much more feminine.
I do know a boy named Shea, and he's quite masculine, so I don't think the name really has a bearing on that. I also know a girl whose middle name is Shea (Leah Shea), so the name is unisex to me.
Overall, I do like it a lot. It's short, elegant, and a great alternative to some of the other overused one-syllable names... Lee, Lynn, etc.

It's a boy's name to me, although admittedly I've never met one of either gender. Connemara is a very unisex place name imo, I see no reason why you shouldn't use it on a boy if you want to.
I think it was the 'mara' bit that made me think it wouldn't be good for a boy, but I'm glad you think it could be for a boy. I'm still just not sure which gender to assign the combo to though... although everyones opinions have been helpful. I haven't ever met a Shea, so I can't really use that to decide. I was hoping for something close to unanimous (sp? sorry) but I guess its not so simple.
