[Surname] Bint
Anyone know of the origin of this surname. It appears to come from Cambridgeshire (UK)and environs.
I don't think it has any connection with the arab word for daughter.

It is an italian surname typical of Southern Italy. It comes from a place name ARENA.To look for italian diffusion in Italy see the italian site:

Bint is also an English surname. I can only guess at it's meaning, and I'd go for it being a regional pronunciation of Bent. This is also an English surname, from a place name. The literal meaning is "bent grass", a type of course grass, I believe. So the place name would be acquired because of the presence of bent grass.
There is a farm called Bint's Farm in Oxfordshire, presumably after a family that lived there.
