[Opinions] Eva & Irene
Eva (pronounced 'AY-vah') is a recent favourite and I currently love the combo Eva Lovisa Carmen. What do you think of Irene ('ee-RAY-nuh'; this is the way it's pronounced in my family) as a sister-name to Eva? Do you prefer Irene with Eva or Isotta? And of course, what do you think of these combos (keep in mind, some of these are more guilty pleasure combos than ones that I'd actually use on a child. If you don't mind indulging me, I'd be very appreciative to hear what you think of them. :)):Irene Liselotte
Irene Laetitia
Irene Charlotte
Irene Dagmar
Irene Blanchefleur
Irene Elsbeth
Irene Mathilde
Irene Blandine
Irene Camille
Irene Nichette
Irene Claudine
Irene Linnet
Irene Saskia

I love Eva said EE-vah. Eva said AY-vah makes no sense and you'd be better off spelling it Ava. Irene is nice but you'd never get it said ee-RAY-nah. Irena is a better idea. AY-vah and ee-RAY-nah sound too similar for siblings to me.Irena Charlotte, Irene Mathilde and Irene Camille are all really gorgeous.

Eva said AY-vah makes no sense and you'd be better off spelling it Ava.It does make sense in any language other than English, and my inspirations Hedy Lemarr (whose middle name was Eva) and Eva Perón (aka Evita), both pronounced them 'AY-vah'. I hate the pronunciation 'EE-vah' as I think it's hideously ugly. Pretentious? Probably, but 1) I live in an area with a large immigrant population, most, if not all, of whose native language pronounce it as 'AY-vah', 2) I plan on living abroad after obtaining my Master's, and 3) In the eastern part of the state where my parents' families hail, an overwhelming majority of the people pronounce it 'AY-vah'.Irene is nice but you'd never get it said ee-RAY-nah.My grandaunt's name is pronounced that way and though she has to correct people, once they learn how to say her name, they're fine. Honestly, I don't see why the pronunciation issue for Irene would be any different than that of other names, kre8iv atrocities and decent names alike. My hypothetical Irene and someone else's hypothetical Nevaeh will have something to bond over in school. :)

I love Irene, but I pronounce it "Eye-reen", but then again I pronounce Eva as "EE-vah" and Ava as "Ay-vah", so we're completely different. :)I think Irene and Eva sound very good together regardless of which way they are pronounced.I like Irene Laetitia best. Though she probably needs a third name if Eva is having one. :)
