WDYT? I kinda go back and forth with this name, what your take on it?

I like it. It's my favorite female U name.

I love Ursula. The sound of it is very melodic, plus it's guaranteed to stay put as an uncommon and unpopular name as I don't believe many people find it attractive. Also, I think people associate it with the Little Mermaid character (*groan/sigh*).

I really like it. My family had a pet tarantula with the name when I was really little. I don't let Disney ruin names for me.

I always think of "The Little Mermaid" first, which does put a negative spin on the name for me. I do still like it though, but would never use it for a fn.

It doesn't make me think of the little mermaid antagonist, but it is irredeemably ugly to me. It would be nice to see on a kid, though.

Same here. It doesn't have to remind me of anything for me to find it ugly. :-/ My association with it is actually good--it reminds me, predicably, of Ursa Major, one of those classic childhood memory constellations and one of very few that I can identify. Still doesn't make me like the name, though.

I think Ursula is terribly ugly sounding. I also think of the sea witch on The Little Mermaid.

Sometimes my mind can forget the evil octopus lady and then I like the name; it seems very under-used, fresh, and spunky sounding.

Dislike Ursula, but would like Ursa.
Something about the L in there throws me, or maybe it's the whole "ul" sound altogether. I think Ursa is something worth considering, though (almost named my guinea pig Ursa, as a matter of interest). I find it short, sweet, and definitely interesting. It also has the added bonus of not coming with the sort of "classically ugly" baggage that I have a hard time seperating from Ursula.

I've always thought it was rather unattractive for a girl, and that coupled with the meaning kind of turns me off. It wouldn't necessarily be bad as a mn, though. Urs for a boy is nice.

Me too...maybe its because I have a 3-year old and watch Little Mermaid 7 days a week, but Ursula will always be the evil octopus lady.
