[Opinions] Avila
WDYT? I'm suddenly really liking the name. Avila Celeste is appealing to me.

A boy named Avila+I have a friend whose son has Avila for one of his middle names. He was born, appalingly premature, on the feast-day of Saint Theresa of Avila..and his mother said she didn't want to call his Theresa.:)
(he survived and is fine now, though spoiled.)

Phew!I was born on May 30th, Joan of Arc's day.It had crossed my mind that I could have been named Joan (and I did have an aunt Joan.) I suppose if my parents had been more modern and I had been a boy, I could have been named Arc?What alternatives did you parents have? (Hunger is getting to me. My lunch date is late.)

I'd have been Martha! Martha Rae?

Albert of Trapini is the saint honoured on my birthday. So I suppose I could have been Alberta.On the whole, am glad to have missed that!

Its not my style but I do think its kind of pretty, what does Avila mean?

Did you click it?I'm not sure that I could give a better explanation than the site could. It's a pet form of Ava, and it's also the name of an area that an ancient (or close to ancient) saint served in. Here's some info:

I really like it--there's a wonderful text by St. Teresa of Avila that I think you might like:Nada te turbe;
nada te espante;
todo se pasa;
Dios no se muda.
La paciencia todo alcanza.
Quien a Dios tiene
nada le falta.
Solo Dios basta.
(Let nothing disturb you,
nothing frighten you,
All things are passing.
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing.
God is enough.)Avila brings those to mind for me. I dig it a lot. Avila Celeste doesn't have quite the rhythm I'd prefer, but it's pretty.Array

Thanks, I love that quote. I'm actually printing it out right now. Celeste is the name I pair with all my new favorites before I find something that matches it. Nothing is really calling to me with Avila...it needs something feminine yet strong to pair with it. I'm not sure I have a name to match it on my list.
