[Opinions] Dorothy

I love Dorothy. My favorite nn for it is Dory, followed by Dottie.
I love the name Dorothy! In fact, I'm probably going to change my name to it. Dot is my chosen nickname (as you can see from my username). I also love Dottie, and I want to get people to call me those interchangably. Dolly and Dodie are very cute too.
I reall y like Dorothy, but my favorite nn's for it are Dora and Dorie. I prefer Dorothea over Dorothy, however. Not a big fan of Dot and Dottie but they're not bad, I really, really dislike Dolly, though. No disrespect to Miss Parton, but I just can't stand it (though I'd definitely rather see it as a nn than a formal name).
My Dad had a sister named Dolly+
who died as a young child. I'd always though her name was dorothy, but no, it was Dolina.

I love Dorothy, but I don't really care for any of her nicknames. If I had to choose one, I'd go farther afield and choose Doro or Thea.
I like Dorothy as long as it is prn. with three syllables. Where I live it tends to be said "Dor-thy," which is awful, imo. I much prefer Dot above the other nns. Dolly seems especially childish, Dodie makes me think of dodo birds, and Dottie reminds me of a very absentminded person, not least because I know a woman named Dottie who is very ditzy. Dot is cute though.
I think Dorothy is cute. I wouldn't use it myself, I don't like it THAT much, but I can see it making a small comeback, and I like it a lot better than some other old-fashioned names popular right now, like Evelyn or Annabelle.
I don't care for the nn Dottie, as I know a very rude and hateful old woman (much addicted to the tanning bed and short skirts) named Dottie. Dot is no better, and I have a friend who calls her period "my dot." lol
Dolly is cute, I had a teacher in high school, tragically killed in a car accident, named Dolly. She was one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew.
Don't like Dodie. Had a hand-me-down doll, a "friend" of Barbie, named Dodie. Some aunt or cousin had chopped off most of her hair before I came along and she was very uglyl. lol
How about Dorrie or some variation of that? When I was little I liked these books about a little girl witch named Dorrie. They always started with "This is Dorrie. She is a witch; a little witch."
