[Opinions] Burke?
I've definitely loved the name Burke (male) for a long time. I'm fully aware that it's Jonbenet Ramseys older brothers name, that doesn't really bother me. what does everyone else think?
I'd also only ever use it for a middle name.

Sounds to much like Berk which is short for Berkshire Hunt rhyming slang for a rather nasty swear word.
Kind of cool, but a bit too surname-y/preppy for me. And makes me think of Berkinstocks (sp?). :b
It's fine, but I personally couldn't use it because it rhymes with 'berk' which is a slang word here in the UK meaning something stronger than 'an idiot or objectionable person' lol
I'd probably use it just as a mn, like you said.
I know someone named Burke, and it's wonderful on him. Masculine, but with that something else to it. I like it.
Even if I didn't immediately think of the Ramsey family and all the people I've known with the surname Burke, I still wouldn't like it. The sound grates on my ears, and the name itself feels like it's trying to be the macho cowboy and the sensitive artist at the same time. It's trying too hard and just comes off as lame and tryndee to me.

I know too many people with Burke as a LAST name. I just can't think og it as a fn.
It's a surname to me too & that's it.
:)
:)
Exactly.
Agree.
Me too.
That's so odd, I've never met anyone with Burke as a last name, same with all the "surnamey" names I like as first names, though I suppose last names are more common in different areas.
ditto.
