[Opinions] Elsie
What do people think of this name? I used to think it was way too old fashioned but now I think it's pretty. I heard a woman shouting "Elsie" to her child in the supermarket the other day. It's a shame she was a complete chav who then went on to shout abuse at the guy behind the counter. It was completely unnecessary and not a good example to set to her little girl!
Anyway, I'm wondering if it's time for it to make a come-back and maybe follow the trend of "El" names. What do people think?

I like it, esp. because it was my grandmother's name (not a nn), but I also just find it old-fashioned and sweet. But there are the Elsie the Borden Cow associations (which my grandmother heard quite a bit, lol), and it's too nickname-y for a given name, imo. I love Elsa and Elspeth, though, and wouldn't mind using one of those and occasionally calling her Elsie. :)
I really like it. I could actually see this name gaining popularity and getting used quite frequently, much to my disgust! I don't want it to get popular, because I like it!
I think Elsie might just be a little too backwoods redneck to come back, at least in the U.S. I don't know about other countries, but here I think most people would view the name as unsophisticated. But I could be wrong. Personally, I think Elsie is pretty cute and I would use it as a nickname, probably for Elisabeth.
I think it's adorable as a nickname (for Elsa or Elizabeth/Elisabeth, in particular), but I don't like it as a given name.
I love it, but prefer it as a nickname for Elsa. It's in my top five.
