WDYT of this name? Would you like to see it on a little Irish girl? Or any little girl for that matter =) ?

I love it. Odessa is very, very beautiful, and I think it would fit a girl of any nationality perfectly.

It sounds like a pretty name, but there's a town/lake about an hour from where I live called Lake Odessa, so that's what it makes me think about. Obviously anywhere else in the world wouldn't have this problem, so I think it would be neat to see it on a little girl.

I think of the city and don't find the name attractive.
It also looks to me like a misspelling of the name Hadassah.

I wouldn't, really.Odessa reminds me of the city, and when I think of it, I immediately think of the pogroms carried out against its Jewish residents. It carries negative connotations for me for that reason.Array

Hmm. I had never heard of a "pogrom" until I read your post and looked it up. Interesting and sad, but it doesn't cross over to the name to me. Mostly because I don't think of the city when I say Odessa.
